Primary school is the foundation of an AMA education. In our primary school, students as young as three years old can begin their academic adventure in our bilingual half-day pre-K program. From there, students study full day in multi-grade, English immersion classrooms for grades Kindergarten through 6th grade.
Our teachers are all English-speaking, certified educators and are supported by local, multilingual teaching assistants. Using the U.S. Common Core State Standards as a guideline, AMA teachers have the freedom to design and implement creative, integrated, thematic units specifically catered to the needs and interests of our students.
Additionally, we offer an ability-based ESL block daily, which focuses specifically on improving English skills for all our students. Students also participate in art, music, Spanish, Kaqchikel, physical education, and sports teams.
